The ICS (International Classification for Standards) is intended to serve as a structure for catalogues of international, regional and national standards and other normative documents, and as a basis for standing-order systems for international, regional and national standards. It may also be used for classifying standards and normative documents in data-bases, libraries, etc. The terminology used in Serbian standards and related documents has evolved and changed over the decades, and the names of the areas, groups and subgroups contained in this edition of the ICS classification are in line with the terminology used today. Also, in the Catalogue of Serbian standards and related documents, which is published every year by the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, in addition to the national classification, the ICS classification is fully applied. The edition in front of you is the translation of the 7th edition of the ICS Classification and contains, additionally to the translation of the international publication, also the original text in English language.
