Students have always been the embodiment of the freedom spirit. The celebration of Student's Day in our country dates back to 1936 and an unfortunate event when law student Žarko Marinović lost his life in a clash between protesters and police, saving a friend. They were progressive young people whose actions were based on the ideals of freedom, justice, and the fight for the improvement of the student population and society as a whole. Two decades later, that day, April 4th, was proclaimed the Student's Day of the University of Belgrade.
The Institute for Standardization of Serbia, which has been successfully cooperating with all universities for years and organizes free trainings for students, recognized that students are a great driving force of society. Since students are the largest future users of standards, they are introduced to the importance of using standards and participating in their creation while they are still in school.
Thanks to the participation of students in standardization, faster progress of society is ensured. Therefore, the employees of the Institute are happy to participate in events dedicated to students. Many university professors are involved in the work of the committees for the adoption of Serbian standards, and in this way they also transfer their experience and knowledge in the field of standardization to students.
The Institute also offers students the opportunity to purchase standards at a 50% discount to support and encourage them in their use.
ISS congratulates all future academics and university staff on their holiday!
