Who works on the development and adoption of Serbian standards?

Expert bodies of the Institute, national technical committees (NTC), and Expert Councils work on the development and adoption of Serbian standards.

Expert work in specific areas of standardization takes place in national technical committees (NTC, in Serbian KS), which consist of groups of experts from various sectors who understand and anticipate the challenges of their sector, and use standardization as a tool to create a level playing field that will benefit everyone. In cases where it is not possible to form a national technical committee due to objective reasons, the relevant Expert Council performs the duties of a national technical committee in the process of adopting Serbian standards and related documents in a particular narrower area of standardization.

Each national technical committee has a unique designation, name, and scope of work, and is accountable for its work to the relevant Expert Council. National technical committees are formed in such a way that their areas of work are identical to the areas of work of international and/or European technical committees whose work they monitor and in which they participate (mirror NTCs). To perform specific activities and tasks, each national technical committee may form sub-committees (PKS) and/or working groups

Participation in the national technical committee is voluntary and is based on the general principles of standardization established by the Law on Standardization. There are numerous reasons for participating in the work of national technical committees, including:

More information about national technical committees can be found in the Internal Rules of Standardization – Part 2: Establishment and work of technical committees for standards and related documents.
