14 October World Standards Day

On 14 October, World Standards Day is celebrated all over the world, in honor of the thousands of experts who work hard to bring them to life. The Institute for Standardization of Serbia, as a full member of the international organizations ISO and IEC, also celebrates this holiday.

The recently held Institute Day ceremony was a fitting occasion to announce Standards Day, as well as to recognize outstanding experts who are part of national standardization.

This year, the global campaign continues with the slogan “A shared vision of a better world” which refers to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. This year's focus is on Goal 3: Good health and well-being for all people.

The third goal of sustainable development focuses on various aspects of a healthy lifestyle. International standards provide a framework that facilitates the integration of digital technologies in healthcare, research and development, as well as in the production and maintenance of medical devices. They help build a safe environment for the provision of medical services, establish principles for the protection of patient privacy, control of data access and security of electronic health records, thereby increasing the trust of users of the health system.

By applying and implementing standards, equal attention is paid to health, environmental protection and economic development, which contributes to the realization of the common vision of a better world.
