On 20 May, Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals (DMDM), as the national metrological institution of the Republic of Serbia, a member of Meter Convention as well as other international metrological organizations, celebrates the World Metrology Day. On this day in 1875, the Meter Convention, which provides the basis for a coherent measurement system throughout the world, was signed.
With the improvement of metrology, new and more precise measurement techniques and machine readability of measurement results are being developed. The trend of digitalization is also present in this area, with the aim of developing universal exchange formats in the metrology sector. On that occasion, the slogan of this year's World Metrology Day is "Metrology in the digital era".
DMDM's mission is to develop and ensure the implementation of an appropriate measurement infrastructure that provides accurate, reliable and fair measurements aimed at contributing to prosperity, improving the quality of life of citizens and increasing the competitiveness of the economy.
