One of the obligations of the NSB-NC arising from its membership in the European standardization organizations CEN and CENELEC is the notification of the original national standards to the European Commission, as well as to other members of the aforementioned organizations. Since the original national standard may represent a technical barrier to trade, other member countries should be warned of this possibility and have the opportunity to make comments and suggestions on the draft of the original national standard.
