Tourism is an important activity that contributes to economic growth and development. Due to the pandemic and its consequences, tourist organizations suffered large losses in the previous two years caused by the decrease in the number of tourists. That is why it is now very important to pay special attention to the revitalization of this activity and its recovery.
World Tourism Day represents a real opportunity to highlight the tourism sector in the foreground by looking at the possibilities for its further development. Since 1980, this day has traditionally been celebrated every year on September 27. This year's slogan is: "Rethinking tourism", which the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) calls for a return to travel.
International standards are also adopted in this area, with the aim of providing guidelines for better business and service improvement. By applying best practices through standards, organizations can greatly increase their competitiveness and be recognized as a reliable partner, both among business associates and users of tourism services. The ISS NTC KS A228, Tourism and related services is responsible for the development of national standards in this area (https://iss.rs/en/committee/show/9207).
Recognizing the need for better information of tourist organizations about the importance of standards, the Institute for Standardization of Serbia plans to organize a round table on the topic of standards in tourism. It will be an opportunity for all those interested to learn more about the work of KS A228.
