The Institute for Standardization of Serbia is organizing a round table „Standards in tourism“, which will be held at the Institute on Thursday, 22 December 22 this year, starting at 12:00.
Tourism is an important economic branch that positively affects employment, gross social product, as well as the development of the entire economy. On the other hand, the negative effect of the global pandemic was most noticeable precisely in that activity. Because of all this, it is necessary to focus special attention on the recovery and strengthening of tourist capacities. Standards are one of the tools that can contribute to more successful operations of organizations dealing with tourism.
Whether and how the application of standards can help the development of tourism in Serbia, which Serbian standards exist in this area, who adopts them and how they are applied are some of the questions that will be discussed at this round table. The goal of the event is to indicate the level of familiarity with standards in tourism and related services and the barriers in their practical application. The moderator of the meeting is Dr. Maja Ćosić, professor at the Department of the Higher Tourism School of the Academy of Vocational Studies in Belgrade and Chairperson of NTC KS A228, Tourism and Related Services.
This event was also promoted at the recently held tourism fairs in Novi Sad and Kragujevac, which brought together numerous tourist organizations, agencies, tour operators and hoteliers from all over the country. We invite everyone involved in tourism and hospitality to apply and participate, so that together we can get a true picture of the current situation and see the opportunities for the growth of domestic tourism with guidelines provided by internationally recognized standards.
