Cyber hygiene – new training in ISS portfolio

The rapid advancement of information technologies and widespread use of electronic communication have undeniably brought many positive aspects to our lives. However, it is important to acknowledge that along with the benefits, there are also certain challenges that arise. In today's world, it is almost inconceivable to imagine our day-to-day existence without the Internet and the convenience of exchanging information through electronic devices. Nevertheless, this dependence on technology exposes us to various security threats, which necessitates our active participation in learning how to effectively mitigate them.

October marks the observance of Information Security Month, and this year's campaign, "Information Security – Shared Responsibility," serves as a reminder that by enhancing the knowledge and awareness of all Internet users, we can effectively minimize the risk of cyber attacks. In light of the escalating prevalence of these digital threats, the Institute is partnering with Nebojša Jokić, a renowned expert in cyber security, to offer a comprehensive course catering to individuals who are eager to gain invaluable insights into the following areas:

- which are the basic security measures to protect data and systems,

- how to recognize a cyber attack and

- how to behave in the event of a cyber attack.

The Internet serves as a global platform that brings people together, but unfortunately, it also offers a gateway for malevolent individuals to target any connected user or device. It is a misconception to believe that the likelihood of becoming a victim of an attack is statistically insignificant. In truth, no one is too inconspicuous or unimportant to guarantee immunity from the malicious intentions of cybercriminals. These malefic individuals employ various tactics to identify vulnerable systems that they can exploit for their attacks.

While achieving absolute system security may not be feasible, there are measures that can be taken to enhance protection and establish good security practices. In today's world, practicing cyber hygiene is becoming increasingly crucial.
