Every year on October 14, World Standards Day is celebrated with the aim of raising awareness among regulators, industry, and consumers about the importance of standardization for the global economy, safety, and sustainability.
This day represents an opportunity to remember how much standards influence our daily lives and how important a factor they are in social development.
A Shared Vision for a Better World
Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which encompass the fight against social inequalities, the development of a sustainable economy, and the slowdown of climate change, requires the cooperation of numerous public and private partners.
One of the key tools in this process is International standards and conformity assessment, which provide a reliable basis for the implementation of solutions worldwide.
Experiences from the period of the global pandemic have shown how important it is to adopt an inclusive approach to the Sustainable Development Goals in order to strengthen our societies and make them more resilient and fairer. That is why we invite everyone to join us in a mission that confirms the importance of the SDGs in building a better future. In this endeavor, standardization plays a key role.
The standardization system is based on collaboration, which proves that we are stronger when we work together. Through joint efforts, we develop practical and applicable solutions that help societies tackle sustainability challenges.
This year, too, by celebrating World Standards Day, we highlight the numerous ways in which international standards contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals and the acceleration of the implementation of the Agenda 2030.
We invite all economic stakeholders to use and apply standards so that we may be united in “A shared vision for a better world.”
