Free download of 7 standards for respiratory equipment and ventilators

Asa part of the intensified activities in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, CEN in cooperation with member states, and at the urgent request of the European Commission, expanded the list of free standards for respiratory equipment and ventilators. After the previous list of about 20 standards regarding to medical and protective equipment, now, the representatives of industry, SMEs, legislators and users, can download 7 more standards for respiratory equipment and ventilators, as well as CWA document referring to community face coverings.

By the decision of CEN and CENELEC, as well as ISO, the list of these standards has been expanded since mid-March to, due to the increased demand for this kind of equipment, help to ensure that production facilities engage in other activities temporarily redirected to such production, and that it is in accordance with European and International standards.

All European standards belonging to the list are already adopted by the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, as Serbian standards, i.e.:
• SRPS EN ISO 5356-1:2015, Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment - Conical connectors - Part 1: Cones and sockets (EN ISO 5356-1:2015, IDT);
• SRPS EN ISO 10651-4:2011, Lung ventilators - Part 4: Particular requirements for operator-powered resuscitators (EN ISO 10651-4:2009, IDT);
• SRPS EN ISO 17510:2020, Medical devices - Sleep apnoea breathing therapy - Masks and application accessories (EN ISO 17510:2020, IDT);
• SRPS EN ISO 18082:2015, Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment - Dimensions of non-interchangeable screw-threaded (NIST) low-pressure connectors for medical gases (EN ISO 18082:2014, IDT) and SRPS EN ISO 18082:2015/A1:2017, Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment - Dimensions of non-interchangeable screw-threaded (NIST) low-pressure connectors for medical gases - Amendment 1 (EN ISO 18082:2014/A1:2017, IDT);
• SRPS EN ISO 80601-2-12:2020, Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-12: Particular requirements for basic safety and essential performance of critical care ventilators (EN ISO 80601-2-12:2020, IDT);
• SRPS EN ISO 80601-2-79:2019, Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-79: Particular requirements for basic safety and essential performance of ventilatory support equipment for ventilatory impairment (EN ISO 80601-2-79:2018, IDT);
• SRPS EN ISO 80601-2-80:2019, Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-80: Particular requirements for basic safety and essential performance of ventilatory support equipment for ventilatory insufficiency (EN ISO 80601-2-80:2018, IDT).

In addition, CEN Administrative Board (CEN CA) requested its members to provide free access to the document CWA 17553, Community face coverings - Guide to minimum requirements, methods of testing and use, until further notice. This document is the result of the CEN Workshop “Response to COVID-19 - Community face coverings”.
