On the market today, there are hundreds of thousands of health and wellness apps for mobile phones. Many of these apps have access to highly sensitive personal information whilst others may offer advice that is not always supported by scientific evidence. Therefore, how do we make the best choice?
New International technical specification ISO/TS 82304-2, Health software – Part 2: Health and wellness apps – Quality and reliability, brings together and builds on guidelines and requirements for apps by many local and national health organizations around the world to ensure they are safe, reliable and effective. This document is recommended by the European Union in their European toolkit for COVID-19 and it can help to “filter out qualitative and trustworthy health apps”.
