The conformity mark represents the manufacturer`s statement that the product is in compliance with all the essential requirements of the relevant technical regulations in terms of health, safety, environmental protection and similar requirements. In the EU member countries, it is called CE mark which is the only permitted product conformity mark regarding product safety in reference with the requirements of certain EU directives. It is placed exclusively on the products for which EU directives provide labelling before placed on the market or put into use. The letters „CE“ are the abbreviation of „Conformite Européene“, which in French means „European Compliance“.
In the Republic of Serbia, the only mark confirming that the product placed on the market or in use, complies with the requirements of the Serbian technical regulations, if its placement is provided by that regulation, is the Serbian conformity mark, the so-called „3A“, ie. three capital letters „A“ connected in the form of and equilateral triange. The Serbian conformity mark is placed by the manufacturer, after performing the conformity assessment. From the date of entry into force of the International Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of the Industrial products with the EU (ACAA Agreement), and at the latest, from the day of accession to EU, the CE mark will be applied exclusively in our country.
The webinar „Certificates and conformity marks in the new approach technical legislation“, scheduled for 20 May 2021, organized by ISS, includes an introduction to the news that the harmonization of Serbian legislative documents with those of the EU, brings to the Serbian manufacturers. Over the past year, most of the national regulations have had significant changes that will be discussed in this on-line training. The participants will learn which documents and conformity marks are used after the entry into force of the new technical regulations, ie. regulations in the fields of LVD, EMC, machine safety, safety of lifts, as well as the equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
In addition to the compliance with technical regulations, the complance of products with the national standards, can also be confirmed. ISS, in accordance with the Law on Standardization, is developing the national mark of conformity with Serbian standards and rules for approving its use. The purpose of the national conformity mark is to verify and enable visual identification of products, processes and services that are in accordance with the relevant Serbian standards. The national mark of conformity with Serbian standards is voluntary, therefore, products, processes and services that are already defined by the legislation, are not included. In order for this service to meet the needs of all interested parties and Serbian public, ISS has prepared a short survey available on ISS web site.
