The Institute Featured in a Springer Nature Proceedings Publication

Springer Nature has recently published the proceedings volume entitled Critical Infrastructure: Risk and Crisis Management in the New Reality (edited by Zoran Keković, Savo Kentera, Marina Dabetić, and Sanja Grbović). The Institute is represented in the publication by the paper entitled “Risk Management, Cybersecurity and Business Continuity from the Standardization Perspective in the Protection of Critical Infrastructure”, authored by Tatjana Bojanić and Violeta Nešković-Popović. The purpose of the paper is to provide a theoretical and normative foundation for an integrated framework encompassing risk management, cybersecurity, and business continuity for the protection of critical infrastructure, grounded in contemporary concepts of societal and human security and operationalized through international and European standards.

The contribution of the paper lies in its integrative approach, which connects security theory, the concept of Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS), and international standardization into a coherent resilience management model. Unlike studies that treat risk management, cybersecurity, and business continuity as separate or parallel domains, this paper demonstrates how international standards - particularly ISO 31000, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22301, ISO/IEC 27031, and the new ISO 22371-22396 series - function as socio-technical instruments for translating abstract security concepts into operational, measurable, and verifiable management practices.
