VDE (Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) is one of the largest technology organizations in Europe, focused on innovation and technological advancement. The organization is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and has a presence in over 60 locations around the world. VDE FNN (Forum Network Technology/Network Operation) is part of the VDE association and brings together companies that operate electrical networks. The director of this association, Ms. Heike Kerber, visited Belgrade for the purpose of participating in a professional gathering at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. On that occasion, she also visited the Serbian Institute for Standardization.
At a meeting with representatives of the Institute and organizations for the production, transmission, and distribution of electrical energy: Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), Elektromreže Srbije (EMS), and Elektrodistribucija Srbije (ODS), experiences were exchanged on the technical regulations that govern this area in Germany and Serbia. The possibilities for future cooperation and knowledge transfer were also discussed.
The German Agency for International Cooperation, GIZ, supported this initiative by participating in the meeting with their representatives, as well as by offering to finance ODS's membership in VDE FNN for one year.
In addition to its good cooperation with GIZ, the Institute has a long-standing cooperation with DIN, the national standardization body of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Institute received a license to adopt the VDE 4100 series of standards this year: VDE-AR-N 4100, VDE-AR-N 4105, and VDE-AR-N 4110. They will be translated into Serbian during this year, and their publication is expected next year, when they will become publicly available.
