ISO/PAS 45005 – New International Publicly Available Specification

In December 2020, ISO published a new International Publicly Available Specification referring to the health and safety at work. Taking into consideration the uncertainty of the situations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the urgent need for the comprehensive guidelines for the protection of the workers of all types, the experts from 26 countries managed to prepare this document in the shortest possible time.

ISO/PAS 45005 - Occupational health and safety management — General guidelines for safe working during the COVID-19 pandemic, was developed in only three months, while the average time for the standard development is twelve times longer. PAS means “Publicly Available Specification”, which can later become a standard.

ISO/PAS 45005 gives guidelines for organizations on how to manage the risks arising from COVID-19 to protect work-related health, safety and well-being and can be applied to all sizes and sectors, as well as to all types of organizations. As it is the result of world best practice, it can be extremely useful, especially for those organizations that did not establish HR department.
