Under the slogan “At the Same Table”, the EU Pavilion at the International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad brought together a rich interactive programme connecting diplomacy, innovation, education, and the experiences of Serbian farmers. Visitors had the opportunity to participate in the EU Kitchen programme, within which ambassadors of European Union Member States prepared meals together with guests and engaged in discussions with visitors, as well as in panel discussions dedicated to topics directly affecting life and work in rural communities - ranging from smart agriculture and the IPARD programme to youth retention in rural areas and women’s entrepreneurship in agriculture.
Considering that one of the important topics addressed was standardization in the field of agriculture, the EU Pavilion was also visited by the Acting Director of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, Tatjana Bojanić. On that occasion, she emphasized that standards represent an important tool that may benefit all stakeholders engaged in agriculture, while also stressing that the manner in which such standards are implemented is of key importance. She further underlined that, although standards are applied voluntarily, they are highly significant for producers, given that regulations frequently refer to them. In addition, she noted that the implementation of standards contributes to improved product quality and safety, while also creating opportunities for placement in foreign markets, including the European market.
