In order to prepare a national program for young professionals, an expert meeting was held at the Institute on July 5, 2023, which brought together previous participants of the IEC program of the same name and experienced domestic experts. The initiative for this gathering came from participants in the IEC program for young professionals in 2021 and 2022, with the consent of the Expert Council for Standardization in the Fields of Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications and Information Technologies.
The idea of young professionals, representatives of our country in the global program intended for young experts in electrical engineering, was to meet and network, as well as to share previous experience. The meeting represented the initial step that will eventually lead to an increase in the number of our representatives in European and international technical committees for standardization in the fields of electrical engineering, information technology and telecommunications.
Electrotechnical experts could follow the meeting live and online, which enabled participation from abroad. Tatjana Bojanić, ISS Director, addressed the audience first, welcoming this project and emphasizing the importance of involving young people in standardization activities. Goran Bajić, Head of the Department for Electrotechnical Standardization, also addressed the participants, explaining the need for connection at the national level, and then Dragan Vuksanović, former Head of this Department, emphasized the importance of inclusion in international technical committees. The representative of the Expert Council, Zoran Bakić from the Ministry of Economy, pointed out that standardization is the most effective way to safe products.
Snežana Lilić, moderator of the meeting, invited other participants to introduce themselves and gave the floor to young professionals who were part of previous IEC programs. They talked about their experiences participating in the program for young professionals and how it helped them to start successful careers. The first participant from Serbia in this important IEC program, Boris Mišković, joined online from Stuttgart, Germany. The gathering was then addressed by representatives of other young professionals: Dunja Grujić, Ivana Mitić, Mladen Ćirović and Željko Damljanović.
Domestic experts who participate in the work of European and international technical committees for standardization in the fields of electrotechnical standardization, Vladan Cvejić, Miodrag Stojković, Dušan Vukotić, MSc and Nebojša Petrović, shared their stories about their participation in the adoption of international and European standards. They also emphasized that they are available to young colleagues for any kind of help.
On this occasion, young professionals were introduced to the process of delegating national representatives to the work of European and international technical committees. In addition, there was talk of DKE's offer to provide assistance in establishing a national program for young professionals in Serbia. The next meeting of a similar format was agreed upon in the second half of September.
