2020 World Standards Day poster contest starts today!

Considering the fact that, due to the ongoing worldwide battle against virus COVID-19, many of us will continue to work from home for a while, a message jointly published by ISO, IEC and ITU could be of interest to anyone involved in design, or has a talent in that area.

Every year World Standards Day is celebrated globally on 14 October. This year, a prize contest for the design of the poster on this year’s World Standards Day has a theme: ”Protecting the planet with standards”.

Political support and willingness, concrete activities as well as the right tools are needed to protect the planet, and the International standards represent such a tool. Through standards, the knowledge and expertise are shared and disseminated around the world, and standards cover and include all aspects of energy savings, water and air quality. They provide protocols and measurement methods, contribute to reducing the environmental impact of industry on the whole, facilitate the reuse of limited resources and improve energy efficiency.

As stated in the announcement of this contest, the deadline for the submissions is 21 June 2020, and each participant is allowed to submit up to 3 entries. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of 1,500 CHF, and the two runners-up will each receive a prize of 500 CHF. The winning posters will be decided by public vote.
