New Editions of the SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17020 and SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17024 Standards Published in Serbian

The new edition of the SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17020 standard introduces significant changes aimed at improving the clarity and flexibility of the work of inspection bodies. Among the most important updates is the simplification of independence categories, reducing the previous three types (A, B, and C) to two categories only: Type A and Type non-A, thereby minimizing the possibility of differing interpretations and facilitating the practical application of the standard. In addition, the introduction of a risk-based approach, together with enhanced requirements for data and information management, contributes to the modernization of inspection body operations.

At the same time, a new edition of the SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17024 standard has also been published, addressing contemporary challenges in the field of personnel certification, including the use of artificial intelligence-based tools. This standard introduces new requirements concerning oversight of AI implementation, validation of AI tools, preservation of impartiality, and ensuring an adequate level of human supervision within certification processes. Furthermore, the standard indirectly introduces the concept of remote examinations, while ensuring examination integrity, candidate identity protection, data security, prevention of fraud during remote examinations, and control of digital platforms.

Both standards were prepared within the KS CASCO commission and represent an important step towards the modernization of conformity assessment systems, while strengthening trust, transparency, and the international recognition of accreditation and certification results.
