New Issue of the “Standardization” Bulletin

We are pleased to present the new issue of the Bulletin of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, which once again brings current topics, examples of good practice, and stories that confirm that standards are much more than technical documents – they are an important instrument for development, trust-building, and improving quality of life.

In the section “We Present to You…”, we introduce the work of the Standards and Related Documents Committee Z452 – Assistance Dogs, which, through the standardization process, supports the development of an area of great importance for persons with disabilities, children with developmental difficulties, users of assistance dogs, and the professionals working with them. The significance of this topic is also highlighted in the section “A Word on…”, through a review of a professional and educational event dedicated to the impact of therapy dogs on child development and the role of standards in regulating this important field.

In the section “In Focus”, we present the story of Academic Standards Day, an event implemented within the European project EDU4Standards, which brought together students, teachers, researchers, and experts with a common goal – strengthening awareness of the importance of standards and their application in education, science, and industry. The strong interest of young participants once again confirmed that standards play an important role in shaping future generations of professionals and leaders.

A special place in this issue is given to the analysis of the broader social and economic significance of standards. In the section “Standardization in Context…”, we present key messages from the World Development Report 2025: Standards for Development, which recognizes standards as one of the fundamental drivers of competitiveness, innovation, trade, and sustainable development.

As in every issue, readers can find an overview of the most important activities of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, announcements of upcoming events, as well as topics from the field of European and international standardization. This time, special attention is given to biometric authentication and the role of standards in ensuring the reliable, secure, and efficient application of modern technologies.
