New edition of the international standard ISO 37001:2025 published

A new edition of the international standard ISO 37001:2025, Anti-bribery management systems – Requirements with guidance for use, has recently been published. This document specifies the requirements and provides guidance for establishing, implementing, maintaining, reviewing, and improving an anti-bribery management system, which can be independent or integrated into an overall management system. In addition, it establishes requirements and provides guidance for a management system to help an organization prevent, detect, and respond to bribery and comply with applicable laws. 

This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 37001:2016), which has been technically revised.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

• Sub-clauses on climate change and emphasizing the importance of a compliance culture have been added;
• The topic related to conflicts of interest has been considered;
• The concept of anti-bribery compliance functions has been clarified;
• Terminology has been harmonized with other standards, where appropriate;
• The latest harmonized structure, which is in accordance with Annex SL of ISO/IEC Directives, Part 1, has been introduced.
