They are Marija, Vanja, Danilo, and Marko, four young people who, through their videos, have highlighted the importance of using standards in everyday life. Although three awards were planned, the five-member jury decided to award one more prize because the works of these girls and young men clearly show the importance of standardization.
Vanja Drinić, the fourth-placed contestant, referred to standards that „bring order“ to clothing size labeling. This is very important because today's generations, and most often young people, buy clothes primarily online.
Marija Brkić pointed out the potential danger of using artificial intelligence, so-called Deepfake, which can cause serious harm to people. At the same time, she mentioned a specific standard, ISO/IEC 5339, which can prevent this.
The second-placed Marko Alilomov talks about standards in traffic, with an emphasis on the dimensions of roads and vehicles, while Danilo Trifunović, the winner of the Contest, using the example of a fire in Baltimore, pointed out the former problem of using non-standardized hydrants.
Due to the resulting damage and the „tied hands“ of a large number of firefighters who were only watching the fire instead of extinguishing it, although they had all the adequate equipment, after the unfortunate event, the size of hydrants and complete firefighting equipment was standardized in most countries of the world, and similar situations could no longer be repeated.
The clips of all the awarded contestants clearly indicate the importance of adopting and using standards in all areas of life, and these young people, as future creators and users of standards, will have the opportunity to present themselves on 10 October to the guests of the Ceremonial Academy, which the Institute is organizing on the occasion of its jubilee. Then, Vanja, Marija, Marko, and Danilo will be officially awarded.
The employees of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia are looking forward to meeting the award winners at the Gala Academy and once again take this opportunity to thank them for participating in the Contest.
