Soil improvers and growing media - Extraction of calcium chloride/DTPA (CAT) soluble nutrients and elements

Scope

This document specifies an extraction method for the routine determination of calcium chloride/DTPA (CAT-method) extractable nutrients and elements in organic soil improver, inorganic soil improver, growing medium, compost and digestate.
NOTE This method has been validated in an interlaboratory study with specific products that were present on the market during the study (as included in Annex B, being coir pith (0 mm to12 mm, washed and buffered), composted bark (20 mm to 40 mm), biowaste compost (Rottegrad 3), green compost (Rottegrad 5, 0 mm to 15 mm), solid digestate (centrifuged and dried, raw sieved 0 mm to 12 mm), expanded clay (whole granules, 8 mm to 16 mm), blend 1 (white peat, green compost, wood fibre, lime, inorganic fertilizer (NPK + micro elements)), blend 2 (white peat, black peat, expanded perlite, lime, organic fertilizer) and blend 3 (white peat, black peat, clay, inorganic fertilizer (NPK + micro elements))).
