— undertaking firefighting in buildings and other structures (structural firefighting);
— undertaking firefighting and/or related activities around buildings and other structures (external firefighting and associated support activities);
— undertaking other fire service duties that requires, as an outcome of a suitable risk assessment, head protection where specialist head protection such as those covered by European Standards EN 16471 (wildland firefighting) and EN 16473 (technical rescue) are not specifically required.
Protection of the face and eyes, when not provided by visors according to EN 14458, ears and the respiratory system of the wearer may require additional items of personal protective equipment (PPE), which are not covered by this document.
NOTE: If the word "harmonized" (marked in green) is not found in the field with the name of the directive, it means that the European standard is not cited in the OJEU.
