Methods of testing cement - Part 16 - Sulfate resistance - Square prism method

Scope

This document specifies a test method for assessing the sulfate resistance of cements and other hydraulic binders using the square prism method.
It establishes requirements for specimen preparation, curing, exposure to sulfate solutions and the subsequent evaluation of dimensional and mechanical changes.

This method applies to all cements covered by EN 197‑1 and to other hydraulic binders for which sulfate resistance testing is required.
The results obtained provide a comparative assessment of sulfate resistance under standardized laboratory conditions and are not intended to predict performance in specific service environments.
