This document applies to low stretch kernmantel ropes which are intended to prevent falls from a height. These ropes are intended to be used by persons in rope access including all kinds of work positioning and restraint, for rescue, caving, tree working and similar activities. Two types of low stretch kernmantel rope are defined: A and B. This document specifies requirements, testing, marking and manufacturer’s instructions and information.
NOTE Ropes used for protection during any free climbing activity in rope access, rescue, caving, tree working and similar activities should take account of other standards, e. g. EN 892. Dynamic mountaineering rope can also be used for protection during rope access and work positioning.
NOTE: If the word "harmonized" (marked in green) is not found in the field with the name of the directive, it means that the European standard is not cited in the OJEU.
