Gas-fired overhead radiant tube heaters and radiant tube heater systems for non- domestic use – Safety and energy efficiency – Part 1: H2NG and Hydrogen – Expansion of EN 416

Scope

Shall be according to EN 416:2019, Clause 1 [Scope] with the following addition to be inserted
after paragraph 1 of the text:
This document covers radiant tube heaters and tube heater systems that are intended to be
connected to gas grids including gas grids for natural gases of the 2nd gas family where up to 20
mol-% H2 is added to natural gas (H2NG-Y20) and where the quality of the distributed gas without
adding the hydrogen is not likely to vary to a large extend over the lifetime of the appliance.
This document covers also radiant tube heaters and tube heater systems that are intended to be
connected to hydrogen gas grids where the quality of the distributed hydrogen gas (4th gas family
at nominal pressure of 20 mbar) is likely expected to contain ≤ 98% hydrogen and stay within a
Wobbe range of 42 – 46 MJ/m
