Safety stirrups –Requirements and test methods

Scope

This document gives guidance on the average foot size including boots (max. 12 cm
Requirements and test methods wide) and specifies a test method to prove the slip out stirrup in
case of a fall.
This document specifies the necessary stirrup leather to bring rider into the correct position.
This document establishes various possible materials such as metal or synthetic.
This document is not applicable for closed stirrups and applicable for versions of stirrup
“openers” or any other technique to release the rider from the connection to the saddle/ stirrup
leather or stirrup.
