This standard specifies procedures and practices which are safe and environmentally acceptable. It covers the functional recommendations for design, construction, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of underground gas storage facilities in rock caverns up to and including the top flanges of the casings. It does not cover refrigerated gas storage. The necessary surface facilities for an underground gas storage are described in EN 1918-5.
NOTE: If the word "harmonized" (marked in green) is not found in the field with the name of the directive, it means that the European standard is not cited in the OJEU.
