Standard Test Method for Analysis of Stainless and Alloy Steels by X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

Scope

This test method covers the analysis of stainless and alloy steels by wavelength dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry for the determination of the following elements: Chromium 2.0 to 25.0 %; Cobalt 0.03 to 0.40 %; Copper 0.05 to 3.50 %; Manganese 0.3 to 5.0 %; Molybdenum 0.15 to 3.5 %; Nickel 0.20 to 35.0 %; Niobium 0.05 to 1.3 %; Phosphorus 0.01 to 0.03 %; Silicon 0.05 to 0.20 %; Sulfur 0.02 to 0.30 %; Titanium 0.002 to 0.04 %; Vanadium 0.03 to 0.25 %. NOTE 1—Unless exceptions are noted, concentration ranges can be extended by the use of suitable reference materials
