This document specifies the characteristics of aggregates and filler aggregates obtained by processing natural, manufactured or recycled materials and mixtures of these aggregates for use in concrete.
It covers aggregates having an oven dried particle density greater than 2,00 Mg/m3. It also covers recycled and manufactured aggregates with particle densities greater than 1,50 Mg/m3.
NOTE 1 Assessment of the density of recycled aggregates is typically carried out on coarse fractions.
NOTE 2 Lightweight aggregates are specified in EN 13055.
Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP) of aggregates to this document are given in EN 16236.
Aggregates used in construction are meant to comply with all the relevant European standards for aggregates. These standards include comprehensive and specific provisions for natural aggregates, manufactured and recycled aggregates, dealing with, for example, the stability of certain basalts, the expansion of certain slags and the constituents of recycled aggregates.
NOTE: If the word "harmonized" (marked in green) is not found in the field with the name of the directive, it means that the European standard is not cited in the OJEU.
