This European Standard specifies the requirements and testing for PPE footwear and overboots with electrical insulating outsole. Only the electrical insulating outsole provides protection of the worker. The protection covers both electric shock for installations with nominal voltage up to 7 500 V AC or 11 250 V DC and step voltage up to 7 500 V AC or 11 250 V DC.
Electrical insulating outsole footwear and over boots protection are limited to the lower surface of the outsole. This footwear and overboots are only suitable for use in dry conditions.
The products designed and manufactured according to this standard contribute to the safety of the users provided they are used by skilled persons, in accordance with safe methods of work and the instructions for use.
