Scope

This Technical Specification defines the interface between the current collector and the infrastructure.
It specifies the general characteristics which are to be applied to current collectors, to enable dynamic current collection of road vehicles from an overhead contact line system in accordance with EN 50119 (Annex D, rev. 2018).
It also specifies the tests the pantographs have to perform.
It includes recommendations for a common electrical safety concept that is related to electric vehicle and power supply infrastructure and gives recommendations for maintenance of the pantograph.
This Technical Specification is applicable to:
- bipolar current collectors on commercial vehicles during operation on electrified public roads and highways.
This Technical Specification is not applicable to:
- trolley busses and their electric equipment;
- vehicles in private applications on non-public roads such as trolley truck
applications in mines;
- commercial freight vehicles or electric busses with static only charging systems at e. g. loading/unloading facilities, bus stops.
