Celebration of the Institute’s Anniversary and World Standards Day

The Institute for Standardization of Serbia celebrated 92 years of standardization in Serbia and World Standards Day, which this year is observed under the slogan “A Shared Vision for a Better World”. This year’s celebration focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) – Affordable and Clean Energy for All.

The ceremony brought together representatives of relevant institutions, the Institute’s management and experts whose work contributes to the development of national standardization. The importance of international standards in developing safe and efficient energy systems, integrating modern digital technologies and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals was highlighted.

The Institute’s Acting Director, Tatjana Bojanić, and heads of departments presented the Institute’s current activities and future plans. A special part of the ceremony was dedicated to presenting awards in recognition of professional contributions to the work of technical committees and the development of standardization.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to Milеvа Cvetković, a representative of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia and a long-standing member of Technical Committee KS H193, in recognition of her professional contribution to the development of standardization in the field of natural gas; Dr Zvonko Radosavljević, an employee of the Military Technical Institute of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and a member of Technical Committee KS N048 – Electromechanical Components and Mechanical Structures for Electronic Equipment; and Nenad Kartalović, from the Nikola Tesla Electrical Engineering Institute, a.d., Chair of Technical Committee KS N015 – Insulating Materials in Electrical Engineering and a member of Technical Committee KS N020 – Electric Cables.

A plaque was presented to Vladimir Simić, an expert with 45 years of professional experience in quality improvement, management systems, conformity assessment and training. He is an IRCA-certified trainer and a member of the Institute’s CASCO Committee.

As part of the programme, Vladimir Simić delivered a presentation entitled “Standards for the Future: How AI is Changing Standardization”, focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence on standardization processes and the opportunities it offers for the development of future standards.

The anniversary celebration once again confirmed that cooperation, knowledge sharing and the dedication of experts are the foundations of standardization and its contribution to the economy and society.
