On August 27, 2025, the key management system standard ISO 9001 entered its most significant development phase when the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published the draft ISO/DIS 9001:2025. This draft is now available to the public for feedback and comments through ISO member bodies. The Institute for Standardization of Serbia has opened a public consultation for the draft standard naSRPS EN ISO 9001:2025, which began on August 28, 2025, and will accept feedback and comments from interested parties until October 29, 2025. Despite these changes, most of the core requirements remain the same. Fundamental concepts such as the process approach, the PDCA cycle, and a focus on customers are unchanged.
The new version of ISO 9001 is expected to be published in late 2026, with a three-year transition period for certified organizations to comply with the new requirements.
All users of the standard are advised to follow the changes so they can prepare in a timely manner for the adjustments they must implement in their organizations to maintain their certifications.
The professional community and users of the ISO 9001:2015 standard are especially encouraged to participate in the public consultation and contribute their experience to improve the content of the international standard.
