Why Get Certified by the ISS?
The Certification Body of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia (hereinafter: ISS CB) was established as a distinct organizational unit within the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, in accordance with new obligations set forth by the Law on Standardization (*Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia*, Nos. 36/2009 and 46/2015) and the Decision on Amendments to the Founding Act of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia (*Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia*, Nos. 93/2015 and 27/2016).
In 1993, the Federal Institute for Standardization issued the first quality system certificate based on the requirements of the JUS ISO 9000 series of standards in the then-FR Yugoslavia. In this context, as the successor to the Federal Institute for Standardization—and subsequently the Institute for Standardization—the Institute is considered the pioneer of certification in the country. Between 1994 and the end of 2006, the Institute issued 450 certificates, and by 2008, it held 198 valid certificates in its registry. The Institute issued certificates to many organizations that were hallmarks of the economy of the state at that time. A large number of the Institute's employees were engaged in conducting audits during the certification process. With this in mind, it can be said that the Institute for Standardization of Serbia possesses extensive experience and capacity in carrying out certification activities.
ST ISS will assist organizations in achieving their business goals through reliable, long-term support. Certification processes are of immense importance, as certified systems, products, and services increasingly integrate the Serbian economy into the global and European economies, while making Serbian products and services competitive in European and international markets. Domestically, certification signifies a higher level of national assurance regarding quality, environmental protection, occupational health and safety, information security, and other elements that drive the success of a modern economy and society. For ST ISS, the significance of the certification process also lies in promoting standardization and raising awareness about the importance of implementing standards.
ST ISS will conduct the management system certification process in accordance with the requirements of the standard SRPS/ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, *Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems — Part 1: Requirements*. ST ISS will carry out all certification activities in an impartial, objective, and transparent manner, while strictly maintaining confidentiality. Every audit and decision regarding the granting of a certificate will be performed by personnel possessing the necessary competence for these activities. The Institute performs management system certification according to the following standards:
SRPS ISO 9001, Quality management systems
