Serbia has achieved an outstanding result according to the Global Quality Infrastructure Index (GQII) for 2025, ranking 36th among 185 countries and economies in the world. This ranking confirms the strength of the national quality infrastructure system and the significant contribution of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia to its development.
The result in the field of standardization is particularly significant, with Serbia ranking 29th in the world, while it took 36th place in metrology and 46th place in accreditation.
The Global Quality Infrastructure Index (GQII) is the only international index that exclusively measures the development of national quality infrastructure systems through three key areas: standardization, metrology, and accreditation. The index covers 185 countries and economies and is based on publicly available data, allowing for an objective comparison of national systems.
Serbia's high ranking represents recognition of the continuous improvement of the standardization system and confirms that the Institute for Standardization of Serbia successfully follows international trends, contributing to the greater competitiveness of the economy, the improvement of product and service quality, and easier access for domestic companies to global markets.
The GQII report, published every two years by the organization Mesopartner with the support of the German National Metrology Institute (PTB) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is one of the most significant international indicators of quality infrastructure development and is used as a basis for policy-making, monitoring progress, and international comparison of national systems.
