HA, H1 statement which selects a set or a subset of all possible admissible probability distributions (2.11) which do not belong to the null hypothesis (1.41) EXAMPLE 1 The alternative hypothesis to the null hypothesis given in Example 1 of 1.41 is that the mean (2.35) is larger than the specified value, which is written in the following way: HA: µ > µ0. EXAMPLE 2 The alternative hypothesis to the null hypothesis given in Example 2 of 1.41 is that the statistical model of the population is not a normal distribution (2.50). EXAMPLE 3 The alternative hypothesis to the null hypothesis given in Example 3 of 1.41 is that the statistical model of the population consists of an asymmetric distribution. For this alternative hypothesis, the specific form of asymmetry is not specified. NOTE 1 The alternative hypothesis is the complement of the null hypothesis. NOTE 2 The alternative hypothesis can also be denoted H1 or HA with no clear preference as long as the symbolism parallels the null hypothesis notation. NOTE 3 The alternative hypothesis is a statement which contradicts the null hypothesis. The corresponding test statistic (1.52) is used to decide between the null and alternative hypotheses. NOTE 4 The alternative hypothesis should not be considered in isolation from the null hypothesis nor statistical test (1.48). NOTE 5 The acceptance of the alternative hypothesis in contrast to failing to reject the null hypothesis is a positive result in that it supports the conjecture of interest.

ПРИМЕР 1          Алтернативна хипотеза за нулту хипотезу која је дата у примеру 1 у 1.41 јесте да је средња вредност (2.35) већа од специфициране вредности која је записана на следећи начин: HА: m > _m_0.

ПРИМЕР 2          Алтернативна хипотеза за нулту хипотезу која је дата у примеру 2 у 1.41 јесте да статистички модел популације није нормална расподела (2.50).

ПРИМЕР 3          Алтернативна хипотеза за нулту хипотезу која је дата у примеру 3 у 1.41 јесте да статистички модел популације јесте асиметрична расподела.За ову алтернативну хипотезу специфични облик асиметрије није специфициран.

НАПОМЕНА 1   Алтернативна хипотеза је допуна нулте хипотезе.

НАПОМЕНА 2   Алтернативна хипотеза може се, такође, означити са H_1 или _HА без јасних карактеристика све док је симболика паралелна са ознаком нулте хипотезе.

НАПОМЕНА 3   Алтернативна хипотеза је изјава која је у супротности са нултом хипотезом. Одговарајућa статистикa теста (1.52) користi се да би се одлучило између нулте и алтернативне хипотезе.
