Terminology database

The terminology related to machinery is derived from the general terminological database of the Institute, which contains more than 30,000 terms. This portal includes terms from standards necessary for the implementation of the Rulebook on Safety of Machinery.

Using standardized terminology allows manufacturers, importers, distributors, and regulatory bodies to accurately understand and apply the requirements stated in standards and legal regulations. Using the same terms in different documents, specifications, and communication ensures consistency, which is crucial for reliable application of regulations and standards. Consistent terminology facilitates and accelerates the understanding and implementation of technical requirements and contributes to the quicker development and introduction of products to the market. The use of standardized terminology supports legal compliance with regulations and standards, thereby reducing legal risks and liability.

Term search on this portal is enabled by keywords, i.e., individual terms from the mentioned field, both in Serbian (Cyrillic and Latin) and English. Each term is accompanied by a definition in Serbian and English, as well as the designation of the Serbian standard in which the term is found. Clicking on the standard designation leads to a display of all terms contained in that standard, and from that display, information about the standard itself can be accessed.
