Today is the European Day of Languages

The European Day of Languages, which has been celebrated since 2001, celebrates diversity, tolerance, multiculturalism and multilingualism. There are over 200 of them on the European continent, and knowing as many languages ​​as possible contributes to the economic development of the country.

The Institute has a NTC A037, Terminology (https://iss.rs/en/committee/show/9121),which deals with the standardization of descriptions, sources, technologies and services in the field of terminology, translation, interpretation and other activities related to language in a multilingual information society. This NTC follows up the work of the international technical committee ISO/TC 37. The focus of the NTC A037 work is standards that include principles and methods related to terminology, language coding, management of linguistic and terminological resources. Among other things, in 2022, NTC A037 participated in the work on the amendment of the international standard ISO 12199, and the amendment referred to the joining of the Serbian language to languages ​​that use the Latin alphabet, which was omitted in the previous edition.
