Guidance on Sustainable Procurement

SRPS ISO 20400:2018, Sustainable procurement – Guidance, is one of the newest editions of Serbian standards published in Serbian language, in January 2021. It is intended for all organizations, regardless of their activity, ownership structure, size and location.
By meeting the requirements of this standard, the organization proves that it operates in a socially responsible manner, i.e. that it follows the guidelines for integrating sustainability in procurement, as described in ISO 26000:2010 (Serbian standard identical to this International standard is SRPS ISO 26000:2011). SRPS ISO 20400:2018 is intended for all those involved in decision-making and procurement processes, as well as those affected by these decisions and processes. This document helps to understand the concept of sustainable procurement, the impact on sustainability and how to implement sustainable procurement.
The standard provides 12 main principles and 7 key topics of sustainable procurement.
Integrating sustainability into the organization's policy and strategy, organizing the procurement function for sustainability purposes, and integrating sustainability into the procurement process are special points of this standard.

This standard has 3 Annexes:
- Annex A containing issues referring to sustainable procurement and measures that should be taken by the procurement function in connection with the key aspects of ISO 26000,
- Annex B containing the overview of ISO 26000, and
- Annex C containing the actual example of the approach to the issue of sustainability.
