ISO Annual Meeting with record-breaking 5000 global attendees

The ISO Annual Meeting, which began on 19 September 2022, is ending today in Abu Dhabi (UAE). The meeting was attended by a record 5,000 participants, among whom were the world's top leaders in the field of standards, business, civil society, academia and the media. After more than two years of caution and fear due to the pandemic, the meeting was now held "face to face". The meeting was hosted by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).

This extraordinary event takes place at a critical moment in history, convening nearly 5 000 participants to tackle global issues and find solutions to the world's most urgent challenges including climate action, sustainability, water scarcity and energy. This meeting was also attended by the ISS Director together with the head of the for General Standardization Department.

The meeting is centered around the theme “collaboration for good”. It happens at the most consequential moment of the past three years as the world undergoes profound change in many areas and moves towards achieving the UN Global Sustainability Goals by 2030.

The ISO Foresight Trend Report was used for much of the week’s discussion and debate. Its goal was to make progress for standardization in the context of the unprecedented complexities of today’s world. The Annual Meeting provided a unique environment in which to reconnect, exchange insights and advance solutions for standards efforts.

Sessions addressed: Achieving global collaboration, Road to net zero, Innovative solutions for water scarcity, Cleaner energy in Africa, Circular economy going digital and Addressing sustainability challenges arising from demographic transition.

Тема овогодишњег састанка је „Сарадња за боље сутра”, јер свет  у последње три године пролази кроз драстичне промене у многим областима и креће се ка постизању глобалних циљева одрживости УН до 2030. године.

ISO Извештај о предвиђању трендова представљао је основу за већи део дискусија и дебата. Његов циљ је пре свега напредак у стандардизацији у контексту сложености данашњег света. Годишњи састанак пружио је јединствену прилику за поновно повезивање, размену мишљења и унапређење решења за стандарде.

Дискусије које су вођене односиле су се на следеће теме: постизање глобалне сарадње, пут до нето нуле, иновативна решења за недостатак воде, чистија енергија у Африци, циркуларна економија која све више постаје дигитална, као  и решавање изазова одрживости који проистичу из демографске транзиције.
