The end of the year and Christmas holidays are the period of the year when we have to remind ourselves of those who are not in a position to celebrate these days. As in previous years, ISS, taking into consideration the difficult situation in Kosovo and Metohija, decided to spend the unspent funds from its own revenues intended for the purchase of food and for the food preparation in 2020, by giving them to the Dioceze of Raška and Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija in Gračanica, for the Soup kitchens in Kosovo and Metohija.
The humanitarian organization “Majka devet Jugovića” runs six soup kitchens throughout Kosmet, which feed over 2000 people. It was founded in 2000 and is officially registered by UNMIK, and cooperates intensively with the International as well as local NGOs (IOCC, WCRP, Glasgow Caring City, UMCOR, CARE, Handicap International, Center for Piece and Tolerance, NGO “Zavičaj”). The headquarters of the organization are located in the Gračanica Monastery. In addition to the dedicated work and the commitment to the goal of kitchens surviving in the most difficult moments, they have realized and implemented a large number of other projects.
The food was transported at the ISS expense to the Church of Saint Sava in Supanj, Municipality of Raška, from where the representatives of the Dioceze of Raška and Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija have taken it over.
