Power semiconductors for a sustainable energy future — free IEC webinar

IEC - The International Electrotechnical Commission, an international organization for standardization in the field of electrical engineering and electronics, has announced a new free webinar within its IEC Academy. The IEC Academy is an online platform dedicated to education on various areas of electrotechnical standardization, and the one-hour webinar “Power semiconductors for an energy-wise society” is being held on Wednesday, 29 November this year, starting at 12:30 p.m.

Demand for power semiconductors is already growing rapidly, and with the shift to cleaner energy, the demand will grow even more. Power semiconductors are not just a vital ingredient in reliable power supply, they are also key tools for addressing climate challenges. Less well known than regular semiconductors, which are a key component of computer chips, power semiconductors are used for electricity control and conversion as they can operate under large currents and high voltage.

The webinar is an opportunity for Serbian experts in this field to learn about the latest trends and innovations that will influence the future development of world standardization. Also, they can become familiar with the work of the largest standardization body in electrical engineering, which is the basis for their potential involvement in the work of technical committees that adopt IEC standards.
