Scope

This standard specifies characteristics, technical requirements and test methods for low voltage flexible cables type EpN 50, with rated voltage 0,6/1 kV with insulation based on ethylene propylene rubber and sheath based on polychloroprene rubber. It defines cable designation and marking, and coil and spool measures for transportation such type of cables. Cables type EpN 50 are used for termination of portable appliances under the medium mechanical stress: in dry and wet areas, at the open spaces, in the rooms where there is no explosion danger, in the mines with surface exploitation - in closed rooms and out of closed rooms, in the mines with underground exploitation – in the underground spaces of nonmethane and methane pits having I hazard level, in constructions and for installation for agricultural purposes. They can be used for permanently wall lying cables and for temporary buildings. The maximum conductor temperature for cables type EpN 50 is 90°C. The significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition are as follows: rated voltage level is changed, specified limits of clad wires factor, innovation of robber alloy for cable sheathed.
