Instrument for estimating the amount of RADIONUCLIDES in the body and, if possible, identifying the RADIONUCLIDESand estimating the spatial distribution of RADIONUCLIDES and their ACTIVITIES within the body. WHOLE BODYCOUNTERS have a high SENSITIVITY that is essentially independent of the distribution of ACTIVITY in the body. Forminimizing the detection threshold, appropriate shielding of background RADIATION is necessary.
