The latest standard in the field of emergency management
This year was marked by a large number of disasters whose consequences are unfathomable. Recovery from these consequences usually takes too long, and that is why it is important that the negative effects are at least mitigated if they cannot be completely avoided. This is also the most important purpose of the standard, to reduce possible risks and provide the best solutions in such situations.
SRPS ISO 22328-1:2023, Security and resilience — Emergency management — Part 1: General guidelines for the implementation of a community-based disaster early warning system, a standard in the field of company organizations and management in general, was published in August. It defines methods and procedures for early warning of disasters in local communities, describing numerous examples. By the way, the document does not deal with the indirect effects of disasters.
Although the standards in our country do not have a mandatory character, their application brings multiple benefits. The numerous principles, methods, techniques, guidelines and instructions they define contribute to the latest technical achievements finding their practical application.
In addition, the standard SRPS ISO 22320, Security and resilience — Emergency management — Guidelines for incident management, which was published a year ago in Serbian, is also in demand. It is applicable to any organization involved in preparing for and responding to incidents at a local, national, regional or international level.
The purpose of these standards is, above all, to achieve safety and resilience in emergency management. That is why their application is of extreme importance.
