ISS has just published the first issue of the Bulletin "Standardization" in 2023. The electronic version of the bulletin is available on the ISS website at the following link: https://iss.rs/sr_Cyrl/download/page-section/document/13677.
The topics that were the focus of this issue left the most impressive impact in the first quarter of this year. The great importance of designing seismically resistant structures, which can be achieved by applying appropriate standards in construction, was emphasized. Standards for outdoor recreation are also presented, and it shows increasing popularity in our country as well. Greater user safety and reliability of all products are some of the more general goals of standardization, whether it is about different types of objects or about equipment, devices and machines.
The third topic that has been singled out as particularly interesting in the past period is the contribution of women in the field of science. There were two reasons for this: in March, International Women's Day was celebrated, which emphasized the need for gender equality, always and everywhere. In addition, at the end of last year, three young domestic scientists were recognized for their work in the form of the National Scholarship "Women in Science". On that occasion, short interviews with two of them were published in the Bulletin.
In this issue of the Bulletin, in the section on innovations, you will find the story of our expert about a new robot that performs almost all tasks in agriculture. Less hard physical work represents the future in this activity, vitally important to human survival.
News from world and European standardization, as well as the most important news from the national quality infrastructure, are permanent sections of the Bulletin. In the column dedicated to long-term collaborators of the Institute, in this issue we present the Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Metrology of the Ministry of Defense.
