naSRPS E.B2.200:2023, Fresh fruit and vegetables – Commercial quality control requirements – Cherries which defined the requirements for quality control of fresh cherries. This standard covers the phase of control during export, preparation and packaging of fresh fruit, but cherries intended for industrial processing are not included in this standard.
Serbia has suitable soil for the cultivation of both crops, especially sour cherries, whose exports occupy a high position in the world. At the time of the agricultural census, as much as 70% of the total area under cherry trees was in Southern and Eastern Serbia, followed by Šumadija and Western Serbia with 13.8%, Vojvodina with 11% and the area around Belgrade with 5.3%.
In addition to the standards for cherries, drafts of three other original Serbian standards are currently in the public enquiry stage: naSRPS E.B2.201:2023, naSRPS E.B2.202:2023 and naSRPS E.B1.300:2023. They refer to the market quality of berries (naSRPS E.B2.201) https://iss.rs/sr_Cyrl/project/show/iss:proj:104998, strawberries (naSRPS E.B2.202) https://iss.rs/sr_Cyrl/project/show/iss:proj:104995, and onion (naSRPS E.B1.300) https://iss.rs/sr_Cyrl/project/show/iss:proj:104999 during their export, in the control phase after preparation and packaging.
